On April 24th the pupils from 5th and 6th classes had a most interesting visit to Dáil Éireann at the invitation of local Senator Pat O' Neill. They were warmly greeted by the Senator and his secretary Anne Grainger and after some light refreshments in the Dáil restaurant, Minister for the Environment Phil Hogan and John Paul Phelan TD also welcomed the children. It was a very busy day in Government Buildings and the pupils were lucky enough to see the Dáil and the Senate in action, even witnessing a Dáil vote where they spotted several famous faces and learned how the voting system works. Later on, outside on the plinth, they had their photograph taken and got a chance to put their questions to Minister for Transport Leo Varadkar. There was just time for a quick word from Senator David Norris before they left. The remainder of the day was spent at the National Museum of Ireland at Collins Barracks where the children wandered through a fascinating display of Ireland's military history.
