Mrs O'Connor is retiring this year after a very memorable 33 years in Gowran NS. Mass was celebrated in the church on Thursday to mark the end of her successful career and to say good bye. The prayers and Offertory gifts highlighted the achievements of Mrs.O'Connor in her many roles as Class Teacher, Resource Teacher, Deputy Principal and member of the Board of Management. The children presented Mrs O'Connor with a red oak tree for her garden and a beautiful portrait by Freagh Kelly from 6th class. Third Class wrote a lovely reflection about their experience with Mrs.O'Connor which Mollie Hennessy read beautifully after Communion. The occasion was made extra special by the music of the children's choir with Deirdre Keogh and Paul Brett, in particular the final hymn "I will follow him", which had the congregation clapping and tapping their feet! Presentations were also made on behalf of the BOM and the PA in recognition of the lifetime of service given by Mrs.O'Connor to the school.
On behalf of the whole school we wish Mrs O'Connor an enjoyable retirement and hope she visits us regularly.
