On January 16th, pupils from 6th class took part in the first round of the Primary Schools Debating Competition. This is our third year taking part in the competition and the children's debating skills are going from strength to strength. The motion for debate was, "School children should have a mobile phone." Team 1 ( Anna, Aisling and Felix) opposed the motion successfully against Clinstown National School and Team 2 (Emer, Miriam and Lauren) proposed the motion successfully against Inistioge National School. All the 6th class pupils were involved in preparing the arguments and practising in the class with their teachers. The adjudicators were very impressed by the skills displayed and gave all the participants some tips to improve even further for their next round in a few weeks time.
