Our 6th class debating teams recently took part in the second round of the Primary Schools Debating Competition. The motion for debate was, "People shouldn't have pets." Team 1 ( Anna, Patrick and David) opposed the motion successfully against St.John Of God National School. Team 2 (Lauren F, Conor and Lauren Mc) were unlucky against the Model School.after a hotly contested debate.
Round three of the competition took place in Gowran school hall on February 17th. The motion being debated on this occasion was, "Nobody should have to pay for water." The adjudicators were amazed at the quality of the speeches and highly praised all six participants. Our team of Anna, Patrick and David won the day by convincingly proposing the motion against Scoil Móin Ruadh from Hugginstown.
They now advance to the semi-final of the competition to debate the motion that," Ireland should leave the E.U." Well done to Felix who performed his role as Chairperson admirably on the day.
