Two of our fifth class pupil are participating in the discipline of karate. This is the Japanese system of unarmed combat using blows with the feet, hands, elbows, and legs. They are pictured here after being award their yellow belt in karate.                  Congratulations ladies, terrific achievement!!

Our fifth and sixth class pupils participated in the first round of Ireland's 'Spelling Bee', with three individual class winners:  
Saoirse Smith (5th), Hannah Brennan (6th) and Freagh Kelly (5th/6th). These  finalists battled it out, with Hannah Brennan becoming the overall winner. She will represent our school in the county finals later in the year.

Congratulations to the winners of the Goresbridge Credit Union Poster Competition 'Celebrate Community Colour'.

The winners from the 7 years and under category were all from Gowran National School
1st Hannah McCurdy
2nd Heather Byrne
3rd Luke Phelan

The 3rd place winner from the 8-10 year category was
Saoirse Smith from fifth class.

A big congratulations to those who took part in the Primary Interschools show jumping event, held in Warrington Equestrian Centre recently. The event catered for both novice and open riders. Gowran did themselves proud and pulled off an amazing double, winning both the novice and open classes event. Click on the image above to read a report of the event.
