Following the disappointing cancellation of our sponsored walk on Friday, May 8th, due to really wet weather, we were all delighted to see Monday dawn bright and breezy - very breezy! The children from Junior Infants, Senior Infants and First Class set off first, accompanied by the Fifth and Sixth Class and they walked up to the fountain. When they returned, they enjoyed drinks and fruit bags provided by volunteers from the PA and the infants had a Teddy Bear's picnic.
Then it was the turn of the older children who walked up the village, through Parkmore and Rockfield and up to the railway crossing. Fifth and Sixth Classes, together with their teachers, were particularly energetic, running most of the way! Here they enjoyed delicious fruit and drinks, again provided by the parents.
Many thanks to Veronica and her band of helpers and to Nuala who drove behind us to keep us safe!
Most of the cards have been returned and we are extremely grateful for the generosity of our famlies and sponsors. The children are currently enjoying nights off homework as a reward for their hard work!
