ACTIVE SCHOOL!

9/10/2017

Once again, in preparation for the Stook run this year, the children are all putting in a great effort to increase their levels of fitness.A huge thank you to the members of Gowran AC who have devised a training plan which can help the children and their families train for the 5km Dash on the 18th November. All the classes are out training each day and are really enjoying it.
In addition, the pupils from 5th and 6th class will participate in a trail run through the forest in Mullaghreelan Wood near Castledermot, led also by members of Gowran AC. It's all go in Gowran NS this October!

Fís Showcase 2017

30/5/2017

5th class recently finished the filming of our 'latest' blockbuster movie, 'Stranded'. On Thursday 25th May we went to
The Set Theatre in Kilkenny to watch films created and produced by other schools as well as our own . There were six other schools there in total and all the films were brilliant.
At the end of the showcase a special guest from Young Irish Film Makers presented each school with an award. We got a clapper board and and an 'Oscar' statue. We got an award for the best use of Green Screen.
On the way out each child got a goodie bag for all our hard work. We really enjoyed making the film, it really brought our class together and would love to do something like it again.

BOOK WEEK 2017

20/3/2017

.Once again we had a very successful Book Week packed with activities ranging from visits to Dubray bookshop to dressing up as book characters on World Book Day and including Khan’s Book Fair, where over €2,825 was spent yielding €700 worth of books to add to the class libraries. Congratulations to the lucky winners of the Book Bingo activity and well done to everyone for the wide range of reading that took place.

Ceilí Mór

16/3/2017

Bhí lá iontach ag gach duine i Scoil Mhuire inniu. Bhain na páistí go léir an-taitneamh as na damhsaí éagsúla a rinne siad. Ba bhreá linn buíochas mór a ghabháil d'Ann Egan don obair a dhéanann sí gach seachtain leis na páístí agus go háirithe roimh an gCéilí seo. Lá Fhéile Pádraig shona daoibh.

Our debating team was in action recently, opposing the motion, "Child labour is a necessity in the developing world." Well done to Rory, Matthew, Stephanie, Alicia, Aaron and Leanne who did a great job.
