Science week was a great success with a number of different activities and experiments! The children were divided into groups and each had to research a different planet using the ipads. They took turns having jobs such as writers, researchers, readers and time keepers. They then presented their projects to the class. They worked in pairs to find out where the planets are situated in the solar system.
The class also got their hands messy while making slime! Mixing lots of different liquids together was fun and writing up the experiment made them feel like real scientists!
They also had a balloon experiment to discuss pressure. It was found that when a balloon is placed on a bed of thumbtacks the pressure is diffused over a large area and so the balloon did not burst, they got a fright when they used one thumbtack! The children are also in the process of making bird feeders to hang in their garden for the cold days that are fast approaching!
