Gowran A-Z poem

5/6/2013

A brilliant place so come on down,
Better than your local town.
Cleere’s is the place to drink,
Dinner is served at Gowran Park.
Everyone is friends in the village,
For a lovely day out, go to the races.
Glasraì and Goodies for a tasty treat,
Houses with lovely people to meet,
In the Panto you dance and sing,
Just go to Regan’s and get served by Ling
Ling.
Kilkenny is Gowran’s home,
Look around in the Reptile Village,
Many things to see.
Nursing home for who are old,
Or a crèche for who are bold.
People here are really great,
Quit work and get over here.
Rattle snakes in the Reptile village!!!
So get on down to Gowran town.
Take a tour in Gowran village,
Up in the school where children play
Vinegar and salt in Rico’s, eat them quick before
they get cold.
Wrap your arms around Carey’s cars.
X this place to go.
Your tired now, cannot cook, takeaway and Chinese, oh
what luck!
Zoom right down to Gowran
  village!

Reader's Theater

10/12/2012

Picture
Readers Theater is a dramatic presentation of a written work in a script form.  Readers read from a "script". No memorization or costumes are needed.
Scripts are held by the readers. Lines are not memorized. The focus is on reading the text with expressive voices and gestures, making comprehending the text meaningful and fun for the students!
Ms Phelan's English Class used scripts to tell exciting stories where they used voice tone and expression to dramatise a story.
Listen to our stories and how we use our voices to depict characters from texts.

Simile poems

Simile Poems By Ms Phelan's English Class
We learned all about Similes in English Class. A simile is when you say that something - a place, person, animal or thing - is LIKE something else. A simile always uses the word 'like' or 'as'.

Here are some examples of similes:
"The dragon flew as fast as the wind."

"The Naming Pool glittered like a mirror."
