Charles was on an expedition to find ancient gold in South America. Every night before they went to bed Charles played a little musical tune on his viola. Every day they searched and they searched but they couldn’t find the gold. One day they decided to go a bit further than usual. They forgot where they were going and got lost. They walked everywhere but they were just getting more lost. Then Charles thought of a wonderful and smart idea. There were four of them so each would walk north, south, east or west. If they found the ship they would light a fire and the others would follow it. Charles’ plan worked and they all got back safely but never found the gold.

A great hook with your opening sentence Tomás! The use of the word 'expedition' peaked my interest! The smart idea was really smart! I would love to know how you as the writer thought of this idea??! A story/legend from History? Or perhaps from a story you have read? It was a brilliant resolution to the problem! I liked too that you didn't give it the 'perfect' ending by having them find the gold.. sometimes the adventure should be the reward!!
