On one hot summer’s day me and my friend wanted to dig for gold, so we went into the woods in my back garden and started digging. We were getting nowhere, and the sun was beaming down at us so we decided to go home and try another day. On the way back, we found a lost treasure map under the bushes so we read it and followed the map to where it said. After a lot of time walking to this place we finally found the spot. We started digging and we found this ancient viola. It was so old that it was gone all rusty. So we brought it back and sold it for a lot of money!

Wow Doireann! I was just so impressed with your story!! I loved how you got straight to the plot! The phrases that you used really hooked the reader '..the sun was beaming down...' The discovery of the treasure map allowed me to predict what might happen next.... it's good to tease the reader and make them do some thinking! Most people do not consider a viola as treasure so to take it home and sell it was a great ending to the story. Well done, Doireann! Great writing!

Hi Doireann,
Who wouldn’t love to go digging for gold, you caught the reader’s attention straight from the start of your 100WC.
I also loved the grit and determination your characters showed by not giving up after failure on day one, that is a good life lesson.
Finally, it was great that things turned out well for your characters, they may not have got exactly what they were looking but were open minded enough to spot something else that turned out to be valuable, isn’t there always a plan B when plan A doesn’t work out.
Well done, I really enjoyed your piece.
