One night there was a wolf howling at the yellow moon because he had dropped his pizza slice. The wolf out of anger attacked the tree that an owl was sleeping in. The owl annoyed, started fighting the wolf in a ferocious battle that lasted about 30 seconds because they were tired. That night, they started to sleepwalk and fell off a cliff. As they were falling, they did a backflip but luckily fell into a cactus. Since they had magic for their feathers it didn’t hurt them. They went off together to find a pizza that had five hot, golden cheeses on.

One Halloween night Joe was walking through the dense forest beside the lake.
Suddenly he heard a strange noise coming from beside the lake, a high pitched wailing noise. The mournful music like sound was melodic but it sent shivers down his spine. He was curious to find out what the noise was but he shivered at the thought of what he might find. He came out of the forest to find a beautiful if not slightly eerie sight. There was an old bent tree in front of a beautiful full moon, and there in the shadows was something terrible... It was the dead of night. My scout group were camping in the murky moors it was my first official camping trip with the cub-scouts. A full moon shone bright in the sky. Wiff,waft,whoosh........ escaped from the tent.I tumbled out of the tent gasping for fresh air.It was like a bomb just hit us. Splish, splash, splosh, squelch the muck and rainwater oozed between my toes. Baked beans for tea?(not sure it was a good idea) Magic,mushy,memories-i might pack a gas mask next time.
“Awooooo awooooo” is all I heard as I sat underneath a large tree watching the sunset. It was magnificent. It was the best way to celebrate a birthday with my friends. I have always wanted to experience sunset because I’ve seen pictures but it’s even more amazing in person. With a roasted marshmallow in hand, I just thought, could life get any better? Although it was tough to stay awake, we sang and we danced and chatted. As soon as we saw the sky turn a beautiful colour and the sun lower, it was like everything in life was complete.
On Tim’s birthday he and his friends were out camping. They were telling each other scary stories. Suddenly they heard a howl. All of the boys were curious to see what it was so they turned on the light on their phones and went into the woods. They were frightened to see that Tim’s father had just turned into a werewolf! They all ran as far as they could but the werewolf was too fast. They all thought that they were going to be eaten but just then his father pulled off his mask and showed them it was a prank. Tim was really annoyed but all his friends were laughing.
As I sit and gaze at the misty moonlight over the mountains I wonder. I wonder why the world is such a contradiction.
We are surrounded by natural beauty, spring is blossoming, and yet we are in the midst of a world pandemic. Something we can’t see is devastating nations, killing family and friends. We don’t know where it came from or when it’s going, or if we will ever return to normal again. Human kindness shines through. We owe you – our front-line worker, you give us hope. This time will never be forgotten, and neither will you. Tonight, my friends and I were planning a sleep-over in the deadly forest.
When we got there, we set up the tents and made a campfire. One of the lads said he was tired and creeped into his tent. We told spooky stories and gobbled marshmallows. They were delicious. We started a competition to see who could run the fastest 500 meters. I went first and sprinted so fast that I did not see the wolf pack in front of me. I crashed into the pack, jumped up and darted off. I charged home, and never went back. As the moon arose there was an eerie silence.
Lilly ambled through the forest while watching her step. As the tale went “If you dare explore the forest at night, you will never return”. While Lilly was climbing under a bow of a tree she leaped to the sound of a bloodcurdling howl.Without thought, she hastened back to her home as fast as possible where she knew she was safe. She lay in bed in shock. Not knowing what to do, she tucked herself under the covers. And my god, she would never return to the forest AGAIN! This year's pupils of Gowran National School are taking on the 100 Word Challenge. This is a challenge set up by a teacher in the UK and has inspired many children across the globe to write! As the name of the challenge suggests, pupils are provided with a prompt on which to focus their writing, with an approximate limited of one hundred words. (Only the teacher (me!) moderates this so it is not a strict rule that is enforced!). Sometimes, editing your work to delete the less important information is a great way to improve the overall standard of writing. This week's prompt is the image below: It is not very strict so don't worry too much if this is your first time to do it! If you wish to submit a story, email MsTighe17@gmail.com. The stories will not be edited but will be read before they are posted. For the stories to be posted on the 100 Word Challenge website (see link below), the deadline is Friday at 8pm. No deadline for a story to be added to the school blog. A new prompt comes each Sunday evening.
We would also encourage you to read the 100 word stories and submit a positive comment to provide feedback! You can comment by clicking under a story in this blog. All comments will be approved by the administrator of this blog before being published. If you wish to see the work of our pupils on the 100 Word Challenge website (and that of other pupils internationally!), click the following link: https://100wc.net/ (Make sure you scroll down a little to see the latest prompt and click on 'Read More' to see the links). One day a girl went to school dressed as a goblin, yes you heard that right a goblin.
All day she was getting dirty looks and was getting bullied. She really thought the goblin costume was brilliant, she had painted herself green and dyed her hair rainbow coloured, she had a pink tutu with orange streamers coming out the back. She didn’t understand why everyone was being so mean, it was dress up day wasn’t it? OH NO dress up day was tomorrow! Well it doesn't matter what you think, does it? |
