Kevin and Rosemary were a couple who lived in a cottage in a little town. Rosemary worked in a little shop down the road from where they lived. This is the story of how Rosemary got the fright of her life.

One night, Kevin woke up to a high-pitched scream he leaped out of his bed, frightened that Rosemary had been hurt. As he ran into the hall, he heard the deafening screams echo through the cold night. As he opened the door, he saw Rosemary standing on the table screaming. He looked at the ground and saw a little mouse...

Wow Tom! What a great first 100 Word Challenge story! I enjoyed your opening to the story. It had a simple style which flowed along and yet demanded little of the reader. Your hook came with 'One night, Kevin woke up to a high-pitched scream'. I definitely wanted to find out more! His concern for Rosemary was felt by the reader too! And your punchline was super... 'saw a little mouse...' It was so banal and yet the reaction that most people would give on seeing a mouse in the middle of the night!! I bet Kevin and Rosemary had a good laugh about the incident the next morning!! Your sense of fun comes through the story and it is so enjoyable to read!! Well done Tom!
