One Halloween night Joe was walking through the dense forest beside the lake.
Suddenly he heard a strange noise coming from beside the lake, a high pitched wailing noise. The mournful music like sound was melodic but it sent shivers down his spine. He was curious to find out what the noise was but he shivered at the thought of what he might find.
He came out of the forest to find a beautiful if not slightly eerie sight. There was an old bent tree in front of a beautiful full moon, and there in the shadows was something terrible...

What a story, Lucy! Your descriptive story fed my senses... the visual of the 'dense forest', the sound of the 'high pitched wailing', the feel of 'shivers down his spine'. You also used one of my favourite words in a brilliant way 'beautiful if not slightly eerie sight'. And best of all, you didn't provide a neat and tidy ending, but a creepy twist to the story and one that leaves the reader hanging! A thrilling read that was so skillfully written. Well done, Lucy!

Hi Lucy,
I really enjoyed your story. You used excellent descriptive language to describe the setting of your story. The description of that noise was both evocative and effective. What a wonderful, strange eerie atmosphere you created. I also love the cliffhanger at the end. keep up the good work.
Mrs O Sullivan.
