I woke up at 5:22am. It was finally Christmas morning! I ran down the stairs so fast my feet barely touched the steps. I was almost shaking with excitement. The sitting room door was slightly open and I could see everyone’s presents. I rushed in and searched for mine, I spotted the one I wanted to open first. As I tore open the beautiful gold shiny paper I shrieked with excitement. I got the present that I really wanted....an antique viola! I picked up the bow and started to play, within minutes I was lost in music. This was the best Christmas ever!!

Well Ella! I'll be honest... the first two sentences, any pupil I have taught may have written... it didn't have your unique writing style. Then... the magic came... '... I ran down the stairs so fast my feet barely touched the steps...' I smiled to myself.. there's Ella! You just have such a special way of pulling the reader into the scene, into a moment!! Every sentence following is just such a joy to read... to experience! The story you have written... about a present that meant a lot to you... is simple, but your delivery of it is just sublime!
Well done, Ella!

Ella, I totally agree with Mrs Tighe. You have transported me into your home and heart on this Christmas morning and I can almost hear the music floating from your wondrous instrument.
I'm recommending this lovely piece for showcase.
I look forward to more of your work.
