100WC- Charlie R: 5th Class

Today was the day of the School Cup Final and we were playing against a Dublin school. I had slept like a log. I scrambled out of bed as fast as I could. I got into my black Gaelic clothes, sprinted down the stairs and gobbled a banana.
Our coach told us where we were playing. The ref threw the ball in and our captain jumped up, caught it and scored a goal. At half-time we were winning. I kicked the ball at someone’s glasses and they got damaged.

In the end we won and lifted the heavy cup. Victory!

A great first story Charlie! I actually had to go back and check for the five words as you wove them into your story seamlessly (you might have to check what that means!). It was a great idea to write about a topic that you are enthusiastic about and that really shone through. Great use of vocabulary such as scrambled, sprinted and gobbled. Well done Charlie!

Wow Charlie! I really enjoyed reading your creative writing. I am delighted to see you used figurative language. "I had slept like a log" is a great simile! I was kept interested in your story because of the exciting verbs you used like "scrambled," "sprinted" and "gobbled." Keep up the great work Charlie!

Hi Charlie
You have written a fast paced, interesting 100WC which has used the prompt words so naturally. It made for great reading. I have nominated it for the showcase. Well done.
