“But should I really do this?” That was me, questioning myself about picking to go to the beach on my own. I’m always scared when I’m on my own because I’m only ten. I was so desperate to go the beach because it was scorching. I finally built up the courage to walk down to the beach on my own. I was truly scared about it but I kept assuring myself it’d be fine . Crowds were all gathered at the beach. Yes! I spotted my friends in the distance! I ran over to them and had the best day ever.

Opening the story with the prompt, Aoife! Very clever! What I loved about this story was how the character spoke directly to the reader and we really got to know her! I like her speaking about fear, courage and the 'reassuring' self talk to get her out of her comfort zone! Well done Aoife!
