Viola felt sick when she realised that she had lost the beautiful necklace that her Grandmother had given to her. It was really special, a stunning ruby heart pendant on a solid gold chain. It was her prize possession. It was practically ancient as her Grandmother was nearly 70 and she had worn it when she was a little girl. She searched high and low for days and eventually decided it was time to tell her Grandmother the truth. She sat in front of her Grandmother with tears streaming down her pale face and explained what happened. “Oh, my dear Viola” said her Grandmother, “You left it here when you had your last sleep-over.”

You are a marvellous storyteller, Anna! You hooked me in straight away with the theme of the story... we all know that sinking feeling when we have lost something precious belong to someone else! Your description of the chain and its sentimental value really built up the important of the necklace and the significance of the lost for Viola. The weight of the emotion in the sentence '... it was time to tell her Grandmother the truth'. I felt the dum, dum, dum sound effect! The image of her tear stained face had me feeling distressed myself.as it was so powerful to imagine a vulnerable child overcome with sadness. The kindness and gentleness of the Grandmother's response was so touching and as a reader, we could all create our own ending to the story.. the hug! The overjoyed reaction! And the excitement of holding the precious necklace once again.

What a wonderfully descriptive and emotionally charged story Anna. I was captivated from start to finish as it provoked me to recall similar experiences from my childhood. I particularly enjoyed how you expressed the scene in which Viola confessed to her grandmother. So touching.
