Ellie, the lively retriever, was walking with her owner Connor. When they came to a little coffee shop by the river, Connor ordered Ellie to “stay” and went inside. Ellie spied a large cat rambling by the river bank and scampered, forgetting her order to stay put. The cat was at the water’s edge trying to catch a fish who had swam upstream, trying to escape a larger fish. The poor little fish was suddenly swept from the water by an old fisherman sitting close by. He was very pleased with his catch. The upset cat dashed up a tree. Connor runs to the scene, spilling his coffee, and very upset with his naughty dog.

What a terrific story, Anna! I loved the humour of it! It immediately struck me that it would make a great short cartoon, a picture book or even an advertisement on TV for something! Your story was so visual and the use of words such as 'rambling' and phrases like 'suddenly swept from the water'. I read it to my son and it got a great reaction! Just have to feel sorry for Ellie though, she was only being herself! Great work, Anna! An impressively high standard of writing! Well done!

I loved the name of the dog and the enthusiasm of the story, looking forward to reading more.
