Lucky gently paddled to the river. She opened her mouth and tasted the air. DEATH... that was the only taste that was in the air after the big growl had come. When she came to the river, she bathed her wounded paw. After that, she found a dark hollow cave in the side of a cliff to rest for the night. In the morning, she would move out to continue her journey to the land of plenty. In the morning, Lucky caught a bunny and had it for breakfast. She bathed her paw again and set off to land of plenty.

'DEATH... that was the only taste that was in the air after the big growl had come.' Anna... I was stunned, I had to read it twice! That sentence just ripped open the story and I was hooked! I was able to build up a whole scene of carnage in what was a beautiful countryside.. and realised why you had called the dog 'Lucky'. I continued to read, although with a heavy heart for what had happened and a concern for Lucky. You brought the story to a realistic end, with Lucky's energy restored from breakfast and the paw on the mend. A superb first 100WC, Anna! Hard to believe you are in 3rd from the standard of your story! You have great potential as a writer, keep up the good work!
